Story Time | Building 2579 | 10 am | Ages 0-5 welcome! The Eglin Library will host Story Time every Tuesday at the Bubble, Building 2579 at 10 am. Join us for stories, games, crafts, and more! No registration is required. Building located between the Fire Station and Eglin Elementary.

Dinner and a Book Club | 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm Join the library for Dinner and a Book Club. Bring your dinner; dessert and coffee will be served. National Library Week Craft | Saturday, April 25 | 11 am – Noon Find Your Place at the Library: Celebrate National Library Week April 19-25, 2020. Stop by to make a fun craft to celebrate National Library Week.

Star Wars Trivia | Monday, May 4 | 5:30 – 7 pm Join the Eglin Library for a special themed Trivia Night. Up to 5 players per team are allowed; arrive early to choose your team name, game will begin at 5:30. Food and drinks encouraged! Prizes for our first place finisher. No registration required.

Dig Deeper: Read, Investigate, Discover Summer Reading Program | June 1 – July 31 Registration opens online at eglinlibrary.com or in person on May 18. Stay tuned for a schedule of events.

Lori Nichols | Author Visit | Friday, June 19 | 11 am Lori Nichols is the author and illustrator of the award-winning picture book Maple. Its companion books include Maple & Willow Together, Maple & Willow Apart, and Maple & Willow’s Christmas Tree. She also illustrated Go Sleep in Your Own Bed! by Candace Fleming. Lori’s debut book, Maple, won the Giverny Award and was selected to represent the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in 2015 and 2016. Both Maple and Maple & Willow Together were named a Bank Street College of Education Best Children’s Book of the Year.

Tech Basics The library offers one-on-one Tech Basic sessions covering these skills: library catalog and online resources, downloading or streaming the library’s ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines, and internet searching. Sessions take place Wednesday afternoons and Friday mornings. Please check the event calendar for upcoming sessions or call 882-9309. Walk ins welcome.

Computers Open for Test Prep | Every Wednesday | 9 am – Noon Several computer stations will be reserved at the library every Wednesday for practice testing utilizing the EBSCO LearningExpress suite for DoD Test Prep.

  • Military test prep (ASTB-E, ASVAB, Military Flight Aptitude Test, Officer Candidate Tests, etc.)
  • CLEP, DSST, TOEFL iBT, IELTS, SAT prep
  • Resources for military transition to civilian careers
  • Career certification exam prep for a wide range of occupations and much, much more. Plus, the SCORE MY TEST feature submits your answers for immediate scoring and analysis. Reservations are not required; just walk in and test well!

United Through Reading: The Eglin Library has a fantastic new resource for military families. We’ve partnering with United Through Reading to help deployed members connect with their families through recorded bedtime stories. Sign up to make a recording at the Eglin Library of a book from the United Through Reading collection. Library staff will assist you in making a private recording and will email you the finished video. Register by calling 850-882-9308, or emailing eglinlibrary@gmail.com.

Research Assistance Offered If you are returning to school, the library offers assistance with the use of research databases. We are available to walk you through the databases offered by the Air Force and by your school. One-on-one sessions are available and classes are welcome also. Walk-ins welcome!
